I’ve been getting calls from Lamont, Hanley & Associates about an old debt, and I’m worried they might try to garnish my wages. I don’t have a lot of extra money, but I don’t want to ignore it and end up with a court judgment.

I started looking into debt settlement options, but I’m confused about how to negotiate without wrecking my credit further. I also read that you might be able to stop wage garnishment if you act fast, but I’m not sure what the first step is.

Has anyone successfully settled with them or stopped a garnishment? Did you have to get a lawyer involved? I found this link with some basic info, but I’d love to hear real experiences.
